Welcome to Dive Gear Reviews, a comprehensive guide to scuba diving equipment. Scuba diving is an expensive pursuit, so looking up reviews for a particular article of equipment is a wise precaution before investing any hard-earned money in it. However, consumer reviews may or may not be written by an experienced diver, and magazine reviews could be suspect due to the advertising ties of the publication in question. Dive Gear Reviews provides cross-referenced reviews assembled by an expert, making it possible to see at a glance what multiple sources said about a particular piece of scuba equipment. If one magazine loved a scuba regulator or a dive computer, but the consumers hated it, that information will be found here.

Oceanic Neo Scuba Regulator Review

Written by Dive Gear Reviews Editor. Comments Off on Oceanic Neo Scuba Regulator Review Posted in: Over $500, Scuba Regulators

The thing to be aware of with Oceanic’s Neo scuba regulator is that “Neo” actually encompasses several possible product combinations. A Neo could have a CDX-5  or a FDX-10 first stage, with differing levels of performance. The latter scored as highly as Oceanic’s Delta 4.2 on breathing machine tests, and therefore offers the potential to get that regulator’s above-average performance at a slight discount. The CDX-5 is a more middle-of-the-road performer. Another factor to remember is that either first stage may or may not come with Oceanic’s Dry Valve Technology (DVT). This mix and match means a diver really needs to pay attention to just what Oceanic Neo is in the box, and the price tag consequently ranges from $440 to $560 (the version listed by Amazon is the bare bones, CDX-5 without DVT).  However, all versions have three nifty features. First is the big, fat venturi switch, which is easy to manipulate in the thickest of gloves. Second is the comfy and lightweight mouthpiece, and third is the compatibility with Nitrox mixtures of up to 40%.

Average Price: $440 to $560 depending on the specific combination of parts and features.
