Welcome to Dive Gear Reviews, a comprehensive guide to scuba diving equipment. Scuba diving is an expensive pursuit, so looking up reviews for a particular article of equipment is a wise precaution before investing any hard-earned money in it. However, consumer reviews may or may not be written by an experienced diver, and magazine reviews could be suspect due to the advertising ties of the publication in question. Dive Gear Reviews provides cross-referenced reviews assembled by an expert, making it possible to see at a glance what multiple sources said about a particular piece of scuba equipment. If one magazine loved a scuba regulator or a dive computer, but the consumers hated it, that information will be found here.

Apollo Sports Bio-Fin Pro C-Series Scuba Fin Review

Written by Dive Gear Reviews Editor. Comments Off on Apollo Sports Bio-Fin Pro C-Series Scuba Fin Review Posted in: Between $101-$250, Fins

Apollo Sports introduced the concept of the dive fin with the split blade, and now split fins are commonplace in the industry. The C-Series represents that company’s top of the line split fin, since it includes a steel heel-strap. Otherwise, the C-Series is virtually identical to the standard rubber strap Bio-Fin Pro fin. These fins are made of thick, durable rubber. This makes them tough and flexible, but also heavy (3.6 lbs per fin), so these fins are not every diver’s cup of tea. That extra weight also made the Bio-Fin Pro C -Series negatively buoyant, which is another feature that might turn some divers off, since it means if you drop the fin you might lose it.

However, all that hefty rubber gives the fin some serious performance. The Bio-Fin series is noted for its high acceleration, high top speed, maneuverability and stability, while the stainless steel spring straps that are particular to the C-Series make the fins easy to get on and off. These qualities have earned the Bio-Fin Pro (and the C-Series) several awards from Scuba Diving magazine over the years, most recently the 2009 Tester’s Choice Award.  The product line current comes in a variety of sizes and in white, black, gray and yellow.
