Welcome to Dive Gear Reviews, a comprehensive guide to scuba diving equipment. Scuba diving is an expensive pursuit, so looking up reviews for a particular article of equipment is a wise precaution before investing any hard-earned money in it. However, consumer reviews may or may not be written by an experienced diver, and magazine reviews could be suspect due to the advertising ties of the publication in question. Dive Gear Reviews provides cross-referenced reviews assembled by an expert, making it possible to see at a glance what multiple sources said about a particular piece of scuba equipment. If one magazine loved a scuba regulator or a dive computer, but the consumers hated it, that information will be found here.

Oceanic Vortex V-8 Scuba Fin Review

Written by Dive Gear Reviews Editor. Comments Off on Oceanic Vortex V-8 Scuba Fin Review Posted in: Between $101-$250, Fins

Oceanic’s Vortex V-8 is essentially a bargain-basement split-fin, making it a logical choice for divers who want split-fins without paying a premium to get them. The fin boasts composite construction with side channels, and a soft, open-toe foot pocket with a big thumb loop on the strap. In terms of performance, the fins deliver average power and maneuverability for a minimum of effort. The fins are lightweight (less than 2 lbs) and about two feet long, making them travel-friendly if not actually travel-ready. On the downside, the fin is negatively buoyant, and therefore demand tight control when taking them off and getting back on the boat. The Vortex V-8 is essentially a flexible split-fin with only a few frills and delivers good performance at a reasonable price tag. It comes in blue, yellow, black and ice blue.

Average Price: $120
