Welcome to Dive Gear Reviews, a comprehensive guide to scuba diving equipment. Scuba diving is an expensive pursuit, so looking up reviews for a particular article of equipment is a wise precaution before investing any hard-earned money in it. However, consumer reviews may or may not be written by an experienced diver, and magazine reviews could be suspect due to the advertising ties of the publication in question. Dive Gear Reviews provides cross-referenced reviews assembled by an expert, making it possible to see at a glance what multiple sources said about a particular piece of scuba equipment. If one magazine loved a scuba regulator or a dive computer, but the consumers hated it, that information will be found here.

Bare 7mm Elastek Full Wetsuit Review

Written by Dive Gear Reviews Editor. Comments Off on Bare 7mm Elastek Full Wetsuit Review Posted in: Between $251-$500, Wetsuits

The Bare 7mm Elastek Full wetsuit is one of two extreme exposure suits in Bare’s Elastek line. It should not be confused with the 7mm Elastek Semi-Dry wetsuit, which has markedly superior seals. By contrast, the 7mm Elastek Full is a fairly straightforward wetsuit.

The “Elastek” in the title refers to the type of neoprene used, which emphasizes stretchy flexibility. The 7mm neoprene sections are double-glued over the stitching, and the wetsuit comes with the usual knee pads. The wetsuit is a back-zipper design, and that zipper comes with a flap seal. The collar is a 5mm adjustable Glideskin (smooth skin) seal, and the wrists and ankles have 3mm Glideskin seals.

Consumer feedback on the Bare 7mm Elastek Full wetsuit has been overwhelmingly positive. Most users report the suit keeping them toasty warm in 50-degree water. Some owners reported staying warm even while taking their 7mm Elastek Full into waters in the mid-to-upper 40s F (7-10 C). Even if the seals on the wetsuit aren’t the best available, a 7mm Elastek Full with a good fit clearly offers top notch exposure protection. LeisurePro users gave the wetsuit a rave 4.9 out of 5.

Bare’s 7mm Elastek Full wetsuit comes in both men’s and women’s versions, is available in black with either blue or red trim, and has a wide and ample sizing range.
