Welcome to Dive Gear Reviews, a comprehensive guide to scuba diving equipment. Scuba diving is an expensive pursuit, so looking up reviews for a particular article of equipment is a wise precaution before investing any hard-earned money in it. However, consumer reviews may or may not be written by an experienced diver, and magazine reviews could be suspect due to the advertising ties of the publication in question. Dive Gear Reviews provides cross-referenced reviews assembled by an expert, making it possible to see at a glance what multiple sources said about a particular piece of scuba equipment. If one magazine loved a scuba regulator or a dive computer, but the consumers hated it, that information will be found here.

Ever since the film Open Water premiered, surfacing to find yourself all alone in the deep blue sea has become every diver’s nightmare. Despite that persistent dread, few divers bother to buy their own safety sausage, which is silly when you think about it. A safety sausage is cheap, easy to use and clips unobtrusively […]

Dive Movie Review: “Sanctum”

Written by Editor. Comments Off on Dive Movie Review: “Sanctum” Posted in: Below $100, Book and Film Reviews

Last year’s big dive movie was Sanctum, and on paper it was a very promising film. If the idea of a 3D movie about a cave divers struggling to overcome disaster and survive wasn’t hot enough, the involvement of James Cameron’s film tech should clinch the deal. Alas, Sanctum promised a lot and made only […]

Aqua Lung Pacifica Dive Mask Review

Written by Editor. Comments Off on Aqua Lung Pacifica Dive Mask Review Posted in: Below $100, Dive Masks

The Aqualung Pacifica is a porthole-style dive mask, but it is not old-fashioned. Some divers appreciate the look and feel of a porthole mask, while others insist the mask’s big, single window has better viewing qualities. The Pacifica builds on that with the modern feature of a purge valve. Some divers consider the mere idea […]

Cressi’s Orca is a dive knife in the same vein as Aqua Lung’s Master Knife. Both are classics, both have been around for ages, and both are big heavy tools from the truly old school of diving. Cressi even claims the knife is a collector’s item, although that claim seems a bit odd given that […]
