Welcome to Dive Gear Reviews, a comprehensive guide to scuba diving equipment. Scuba diving is an expensive pursuit, so looking up reviews for a particular article of equipment is a wise precaution before investing any hard-earned money in it. However, consumer reviews may or may not be written by an experienced diver, and magazine reviews could be suspect due to the advertising ties of the publication in question. Dive Gear Reviews provides cross-referenced reviews assembled by an expert, making it possible to see at a glance what multiple sources said about a particular piece of scuba equipment. If one magazine loved a scuba regulator or a dive computer, but the consumers hated it, that information will be found here.

Aqua Lung Express Scuba Fin Review

Written by Editor. Comments Off on Aqua Lung Express Scuba Fin Review Posted in: Below $100, Fins

Aqua Lung’s Express fin is a paddle fin with a wide-bladed design. Like almost all Aqua Lung fins, the Express is designed so the fulcrum point of the kicking action is centered on the middle of the foot and reduces strain on the toes and the ball of the foot. In front of the foot […]

Tusa Panthes Dive Mask Review

Written by Editor. Comments Off on Tusa Panthes Dive Mask Review Posted in: Below $100, Dive Masks

Tusa’s Panthes dive mask was meant for freedivers, which makes them a logical choice for divers looking for a dual purpose mask. If a diver happens to do a little spearfishing without scuba gear on the side, this lightweight, low volume mask is suited to both purposes. Those features also make the mask a decent […]

Oceanic Viper Scuba Fin Review

Written by Editor. Comments Off on Oceanic Viper Scuba Fin Review Posted in: Below $100, Fins

Oceanic’s Viper fins are a very run-of-the-mill scuba fin design, but the dirt cheap prices at which these fins are available make them a major option for divers collecting a set of scuba equipment on a budget, or perhaps dive shop owners building up an inventory of rental gear. Like the Aeris Mako or Mares […]

Mares Avanti Superchannel Scuba Fins

Written by Editor. Comments Off on Mares Avanti Superchannel Scuba Fins Posted in: Below $100, Fins

The Avanti Superchannel from Mares is of a similar design to the Aeris Mako, namely a paddle fin with the big rubber section in the middle. This both improves the channeling of water down the paddle and the flexibility of the overall fin. Scuba Diving loved the Superchannel, giving it both a Tester’s Choice and […]

Cressi Reaction Scuba Fin Review

Written by Editor. Comments Off on Cressi Reaction Scuba Fin Review Posted in: Below $100, Fins

Cressi’s Reaction Fins are fairly typical of modern middling dive fins. The blade consists of a long plastic paddle, and although Cressi has used three different levels of thickness in the paddle to improve flexibility, it is still a big piece of plastic and feels like it. Side rails complete the picture, giving the fins […]

Aqua Lung Blades Flex 2 Scuba Fin Review

Written by Editor. Comments Off on Aqua Lung Blades Flex 2 Scuba Fin Review Posted in: Below $100, Fins

Aqualung’s Blades Flex 2 constitute above average dive fins in an average-looking package. Although the fin looks like a typical big paddle design with a minimum of frills, it manages slightly above-average speed and manueverability. Consumers simply adored the quick-release heel strap buckles, which have a hands-free feature enabling a diver to undo the strap […]

DiveRite Intova LED Dive Light Review

Written by Editor. Comments Off on DiveRite Intova LED Dive Light Review Posted in: Below $100, Dive Lights

The small size and high light output make this dive light an admirable back-up unit, but because the beam is fixed to a narrow band the Intova LED would serve poorly as a primary dive light.

The Intova CP9 dive camera is a classic example of the maxim “you get what you pay for.” It is a compact, handy camera with a price tag that hovers right around $90 (although the camera is often marked up considerably in Europe). The CP9 is also rated for depths of 130 feet/39 meters. Very […]
